Impact of Ocean Domain Definition on Sea Level Budget

چکیده
Total sea level changes from space radar altimetry are mainly decomposed into two contributions of mass addition and volume expansion oceans, measured by GRACE gravimeter Argo float array, respectively. However, the averages altimetry, mass, steric have been usually examined over respective data domains, which different to one another. Errors arise this area inconsistency is rarely discussed in previous studies. Here study, an alternative definition ocean domain applied for examining budgets, results compared with estimates areas. It shows that impact estimated about 0.3 mm/yr global trend difference, based on a consistent yield closer agreement between + trend. This contribution would explain some discordances past budget

Impact of glacial/interglacial sea level change on the ocean nitrogen cycle.
The continental shelves are the most biologically dynamic regions of the ocean, and they are extensive worldwide, especially in the western North Pacific. Their area has varied dramatically over the glacial/interglacial cycles of the last million years, but the effects of this variation on ocean biological and chemical processes remain poorly understood. Conversion of nitrate to N2 by denitrifi...
متن کاملImpact of Indian Ocean Sea Surface Temperature on Developing
Prior to the 1976–77 climate shift (1950–76), sea surface temperature (SST) anomalies in the tropical Indian Ocean consisted of a basinwide warming during boreal fall of the developing phase of most El Niños, whereas after the shift (1977–99) they had an east–west asymmetry—a consequence of El Niño being associated with the Indian Ocean Dipole/Zonal mode. In this study, the possible impact of t...
متن کاملSea level rise in the Arctic Ocean
About 60 tide-gauge stations in the Kara, Laptev, East-Siberian and Chukchi Seas have recorded the sea level change from the 1950s through 1990s. Over this 40-year period, most of these stations show a significant sea level rise (SLR). In light of global change, this SLR could be a manifestation of warming in the Arctic coupled with a decrease of sea ice extent, warming of Atlantic waters, chan...
متن کاملOcean freshening, sea level rising, sea ice melting
[1] Estimates of 20th Century sea level rise are typically 1.5 to 2 mm/y, with a steric contribution of (0.5 ± 0.2) mm/y. Estimates of the eustatic contribution vary widely between 1.1 and +1.3 mm/y. We attempt an independent estimate of eustatic sea level rise based on the measured freshening of the global ocean, and with attention to the contribution from melting of sea ice (which affects fre...
